  • @moparmurderer yea theres no point in not unlocking em if you dont need em. kinda a pain in the ass for me since my driveway is a good mile long and usually muddy and snowy but i can get out to deal with em. dont need to push that around if im not using it

  • @YourFavoriteReviewer That is a good plan ;) Mine are unlocked until the minute I need 4x4, or unless I know I am going to need it soon (mudding, offroading, etc). I don't think it hurts to leave them locked, but why waste the extra fuel pushing the front around?

  • @moparmurderer yea its not that im too lazy to get out of the truck i just dont have time to sometimes but ill start unlockin em when i dont need the 4x4. i kinda figured because it seems like my acceleration is worse when i have em locked in

  • @YourFavoriteReviewer A lot of people will argue it both ways. If you're going to be driving on the highway over 50 mph, I would advise unlocking them. I also know people who leave their hubs locked in all winter long, so they don't have to get out of the truck to put it in 4x4. Just expect your gas mileage to drop, because now you will be pushing that front end around.

  • @moparmurderer alright...while im at it if i leave my hubs locked and im in 2 wheel is it bad for my front diff? or is it not a big deal

  • @YourFavoriteReviewer If you have any questions feel free to ask, I will answer anything that I can.

  • @moparmurderer yea im not very experienced with diffs...engines yea diffs no. alright well that answers my problem

  • @YourFavoriteReviewer open/locked differential has nothing to do with it. Your truck has manual hubs, your friends trucks have automatic hubs. When they engage the 4x4 their hubs lock automatically, you have to physically turn the hubs to lock yours. IMO, the manual hubs are better. So there is nothing wrong with your truck, you just aren't familiar with how 4x4 works. Open/locked diffs decides whether 1 tire gets power, or both do. Think positraction.
