That ring is the ancestral hallmark of the Han Dao 2000 years agao, a weapon used by the Han Dynasty cavalry against nomad tribes in Northern China, the design was passed on through generation of sword makers, even though the original Han Dao's blade is much slimmer, designed for single hand use.
The ring also has a practical use, an expert with the Dadao would do a spin cut using his fingers, especially when turning his body to cut the enemy from behind.

Dadao has been around for thousands of years - first designed to cut horses against cavalry, then gradually transformed into a practical must have infantry weapon for both the imperial army and peasant rebels - it was NOT born out of desperation, but rather it has a glorious history of toppling emperors and cutting heads off invaders.

BZZZT!! Sweet, I always liked that blade... reminds me of an orc blademaster sword.
I hope you are recycling all those bottles

@Tianshanwarrior Indeed I am. If I recall, tho's bottles were used, then filled, then recycled. :D Even when I buy cases of water to cut, I recycle them all. Some people say it's wasteful to buy water only to cut, but to me, it's the same as buying clay targets to shoot.

few minutes with an accusharp should do the trick
Jonbino 11 months ago
@Jonbino Oddly enough, the accusharp made the blade cut worse. With the steep angle that the accusharp puts on the blade, it was pushing the bottle as much as slicing it. Since this video, I've sat down at the bench with it and used a file and put a MUCH nicer edge on it. I might make another cutting vid with the DaDao this weekend to show what it is now cabable of. It's insane.

how would u rate it on a scale of 1 to 10 cause i was thinking of buying one of them my self
sinwolf12 1 year ago
@sinwolf12 Well, that's a tough question. All of my ratings would be above a 5 for sure. But there are a lot of options to weigh. Price versus Blade versus Out-of-box cutting.
If you are looking for a functional piece to hang on a wall, I'd rate it a 9. How much 'sword' per dollar ($80) I'd rate it a 10. But out of box cutting, as you can see, would be a 5. So all in all, I highly recommend this if you can sharpen it.
I'll send you a link to my review where I took apart the grip.
