Ghosts Of Rwanda (3/12)

A history of the Rwandan genocide in which the Hutu Racial extremists the Interahamwe systematically slaughtered the Tutsi people and non-racist Hutu's. Told through documentary evidence and interviews with every major figure involved it documents the incredible brutality but also the kindness and heroism of those involved.
A gruesome, grotesque and deeply powerful documentary which tells of the horrors of the events and of the reaction to mass murder by each major Western government. To turn away, to not care or to pull support from them.
On a personal note I have taken the time to do this as no documentary has meant more to me than this and as Darfur rages on its message has never been more important.

Africans used to live in peaceful clans with their own boundaries? My friend, I think it's time you went back to social studies class. Ever heard of Shaka Zulu? The guy murdered thousands long before the Europeans took power. I'm not excusing what white people have done in Africa, but the murder of 800,000 Tutsis by the Hutus was not the fault of Europeans, but an ethnic 'cleansing' brought about by centuries old hatred.

"Both Germany & Belgium turned the traditional Hutu-Tutsi relationship into a class system. The minority Tutsi (14%) are favored over the Hutus (85%) & given privileges and western-style education. The Belgians used the Tutsi minority to enforce their rule."

Belgians introduce a system of ethnic identity cards differentiating Hutus from Tutsis.

When the Germans came to Rwanda in the early 1900's they saw the Tutsi ethnic minority and thought that they are tall and have a more european look than the Hutsi's so decided to make the Tutsi ethnicity into the royalty of Rwanda while persecuting the Hutu's. That is where this ethnic hatred started, it was not there before the Europeans decided to bring in their idiotic ideas on royalty into a country.
