This beautiful lady wonders. We really should have a car. A car that's economic, cheap and realible. She concludes: it should be a volkswagen beetle!
The male voice adds that a vw beetle export model costs only DM 4,600.

It's fascinating because VW was advocating personal transport for ladies with this. Around the world, in those days women were just starting to popularize private vehicle ownership. Before, their husbands or fathers had to drive them everywhere; a lady just didn't drive alone. With the reliability of the VW, its inexpensive price, and its ease of parking, ladies everywhere could have their own wheels

Jusrt imagine. If I was sitting in a cimema with my girlfriend, I would buy a beetle TOMORROW! In its time, this commercial was so effective. In the '50's, this commercial appealed so much to a man! the message is: you only deserve your beautiful girlfrien if you can transport her in a vw beetle!
