  • what cab do you use mate?

im looking to buy my first head and cab and this head looks very promising

  • The cab used was the Tony Iommi Laney cab, which I don't actually recommend. Its wayy to bright and harsh sounding for my tastes. I much perfer my 5150 with V30's. Havn't tried my laney through them (because I sold it for the 5150).

  • you make it sound like a solid state crate

  • @Antonis1991CY Thats when you use an EQ pedal to boost the lows.

  • @ericsteinhauer He does not use a boost live. I have seen him 4 times close up in the last 2 years, Guitar- wah - amp. That's it! The AMT pedal was designed for use at clinics and guitar demoes in Asia where he had to use other amps and of course money is a big part in it as well ;-)

  • @SEVIL999 Having owned it for quite some time I can say the GH100L is passable for "Metal" but in a more classic sense of the genre...For 80's Thrash/Metal it totally rocks! Which was more or less why I got it in the first place! For more modern metal there a few better options, that will also undoubtedly be more flexible at the same time. This amp is "OK" at low volumes, but really opens up when pushed to at least 2 on the Master (The GH100L on 2 was like my old Dual Recto on 5) Happy Hunting!

  • So its good for Metal? how does it sound at lower levels?

  • Speaking of overdrive, I have to commend you for using it properly. People don't realize how nice of a tool it is to boost your guitar signal so it isn't jumping around. The amp then brings it back to life without losing clarity. I'm sold on this head, I pray to god I find a good deal so I can get some other stuff too hehe.

  • Insane sound!

  • Check out AMT Electronics web site. He has his own signature boost pedal. Trust me I'm an audio engineer I know what I'm talking about. I'm not saying that every rock/metal guitarist uses a boost, but a lot do, especially in a live or studio setting. It helps the guitar sit better in the overall mix.

  • If you look up his live rig you'll see that he most certainly does use a boost pedal.
