Max Wolff Trio: Max Wolff (guitar/vocal), Peter Friis(bas), Jens Kristian Dam Pedersen (drums)
Max Robert Wolff
The danish singer and guitarist is loadin up his van and gettin on down the road with his beat-up old acoustic, a heavy slide-tube, and a whole bunch of great blues, rag, and folk songs!
Were talkin a man and his guitar, just standin, or sittin on a barstool, playin that six-string the old-timey way - strumminit with his bare fingers, or slidin it real sweet with that brass slide, baby.
Max Wolff is very much his own man, and he plays his own tunes in a set mixed with traditionals from the good old school. Very much inspired by the early Ry Cooder, he borrows heavily from the guys, who started it all. Were talkin bout the blues of Leadbelly and Muddy Waters, the country songs of Hank Williams and Johnny Cash, and were talknin bout the ragtime music of Blind Lemon Jefferson and Arthur Blake only to mention a few. Were actually very close to what is called roots music by todays music industry.
Max Wolff has been on the road for about 12 years as a pro, and has payed his dues in bands, on his own, or at many other kinds of crazy sessions with musicians from the local blues und folk-country scene in the city of Aarhus.
Blues, countryblues and hillbillymusic has been on his mind ever since he went on the road in 1988 to perform as a professional singer and guitarist.
Over the years he has educated himself to become a songwriter, composer, singer and (slide-)guitarsist, playing some 100-130 shows each and every year. Not only because he badly needs the dough, but simply because of his love for the music, and the heartfelt joy it is for some people to pick the guitar and play in public.
As a bandleader, or on his own at solo-shows he has learned his trade and tricks in bars and small clubs/places. But also hundreds of old blues and country vinyl-records at home, have given him inspiration and have influenced his way of playing, which is authentic and definitely his own, and - by the way- selfmade in every way.

His music is american music, first of all. Whatever he'll be picking a traditional song or play som of his own stuff, we're talkin' a man and his guitar. Just standin', or sittin' on a barstool, playin' that six-string the old-timey way, strummin' with a flat pick, pickin' it with his bare fingers, or slidin' it real sweet with that brass slide, baby.
So look out for Max Wolff, when he'll be loadin' up his van and gettin' on down the road with his beat-up old acoustic, a heavy slide tube, and a whole bunch of great blues, rag, and folk songs!
