This is a stride jump practice I use when I've large groups. The drill is simple to set up and every jumper is working hard.
Youngsters hate queing so they like this drill .
We are working on taking off from one foot and landing on two. They decide where to position their cone - but we are looking for a wide stride shape across the sand to a landing position on 2 feet the other side of the cone.
This was the first time that any of the youngsters had done this drill so it's 'early' days....
As they progress we can add other key technical points- such as: free thigh to parallel, arms above and behind the head to stabilise the upper torso; and toes dorsi-flexed to shin to encourage a more efficient heel-first landing.....
This movement pattern, once shaped can be taken to a short approach-run using take-off platforms.
