Do you still have this file saved? Could I get a copy? I just got done trying it in After Effects, but can't figure out how to make the light persist for as long as the image is drawn. It only lasts untl a second after I start the stroke.

Unfortunately I don't have it saved. I do remember though, that the echo effect had a setting that has to do with how long the image sticks around. The effect wasn't really designed to be able to do this kind of work, so it's really CPU intensive.

Great teaching tool and thanks for the link with your explanation. Thirty years ago when I lived in Los Angeles I used to get a group of friends, head to the beach at midnight and do what we called Time Exposures. Same thing, but at the time it was on 35mm print film. Those prints are some of my favorites. I'm been trying to figure out for along time how they are doing these on moving images. Now I know. IGNORE the jealous people on You Tube who can't compliment the creative energy in you!

Yeah, light painting has been around for quite some time. I'm not exactly how they do this effect in commercials, but I'm pretty sure they don't actually use LEDs to create the image. I think they just somehow draw it in post production.
I don't typically respond to flamers, but when they state things that aren't correct it'll cause confusion... so usually I'll address that.
