"Still Life"
composed and performed by Yuichi Onoue
with his handmade musical instruments "Kaisatsuko(回擦胡)".

"Kaisatsuko" is an electric two strings upright fiddle. But it is not performed with a bow. The rotating wheel (which is rotated by my handling) rubs strings and makes sound like Hurdy-Gurdy.

See here for detail about Kaisatsuko.

  • I like the fretless nature of the instrument and how slightly "off" notes add to its unique sound. Sort of reminds me of the Gizmo designed by Godley & Creme. Great job & great composition, too! ~Jon

  • I still listen to this several times a month. True music genius.

  • @jtgilmore13 Oh wow, me too. I totally heard the Nile-ness too.

  • hurdy gurdy?
