@dkanrjskgo Okay. When Taejo was only a jr. general, he spent a night at a temple. He had a dream and asked the head monk at the temple, Muhak, to interpret his dream. Muhak said, "You will be the King someday. You will establish a new nation"
Years later, when he indeed became the founder and King of Yi Dyansty, Muhak was given the title, the Great Muhak.
-
@heraavria Muhak was Taejo's spiritual mentor. He is most well known for supporting Taejo to move the capital from Gaegyung to Hanseong(Seoul) not long after Joseon was founded.
Since I didn't get to watch the Tears of Dragon (I was too little then), I am not sure whether the monk made the comment before or after the coup. However, as known in history, Muhak was definitely alive when the coup broke out. He died in Kumgangsan few years before Taejo's death.

By the way, for everyone's info, the coup was the 1398 First Strife of Princes (제1차 왕자의 난), wherein Bang-won (later Taejong) killed Yi Bang-beon & Yi Bang-seok (who was proclaimed by Taejo as the 세자...so young to be killed just like that)...
And last one...who was the monk??? (Muhak Daesa) What was his role in Taejo (or Taejong)'s life? Was this before Taejo's 1392 coup???

Thanks for eveything...

@heraavria And yes, the woman (Kangbi) was Taejo's second wife. She was Gyeongsun's mother and her sons were all killed by Bangwon as well.
It is told that Taejo was deeply heartbroken when Kangbi passed away and would have meals only after he had prayed for her soul. Taejo devoted to Buddhism during the latter days of his life as well and totally lost interest in politics. Apparently, he was done with it after witnessing his sons killing each other and himself getting abdicated by his own son.
연기 진짜 소름끼치내 몇번을 다시 봐도 볼 때 마다 눈물이 난다.
