CCTV from a small skid we had by Loch Laggan on 23rd Dec (near Ardverikie estate A.k.a. GlenBogle). Roads were treated, temperature approx 2 degrees C, though some frost on parts of the surface. Probably a patch of black ice.
The skid developed initially as complete loss of traction on the front wheels (understeer) into the corner towards the barrier, then following correction (both myself & "ESP") into a slight "fishtail" that took us to the other side of the road where traction was restored.
The car is a 6 speed DSG (auto), so I was driving it in fully "manual" mode for this stretch of the journey to control engine braking & torque. We'd already navigated the A889 (formerly Britain's most dangerous road http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/1826388.stm ) successfully (and with extreme caution) without incident; so this goes to show the need for constant vigilance!
