@chardsnake Having owned both a rescued adult and a puppy I can tell you that the bond takes a while to develop with a dog you didn't raise from a puppy. It's worth it and I wouldn't have it any other way but it's something you should know if you go for an older puppy or an adult rescue. They really are awesome dogs. They really love it when you can find some open country to let them off leash to roam. This takes some trust building but it's worth it. I love watching them run wide open...

@chardsnake There is a breeder list on german-pinsher dawt com that you can contact to check for available puppies. You might also be able to find some older puppies that breeders haven't been able to sell. In the course of my own research on dogs I discovered that they most intense bonding between dog and owner occurs between two and four months of age. That's something to consider.

@chardsnake I actually got a pretty good deal on him. I got the female for a $250 rehoming fee from her breeder. The good thing is that the previous owners gave her back to the breeder and the breeder did what she's supposed to do by taking her back.
They usually come available twice a year for the young ones. Both of mine were born in late March coming available eight weeks later.
If it holds true that they go into heat six months apart then you might find some available nowish.

@rogerpemberton yeah i read up on them about possible agression and their behavior. i went to a couple of web sites including the german pinscher website that you mentioned. i got plenty of time to be with em and i have a pretty large back yard so it can run around and play, i know about their energy. one of my friends has one and its probably one of the most energetic dogs i know but thats what i love about it haha. but 1000 bucks? damn thats gonna be a bit of a punch out of my wallet lol

@chardsnake They are the best dogs for me but they are not for everybody. Do your research and talk to some breeders before you decide. Robin Pierce at Spirits German Pinschers is my 3 year old male's breeder and I suggest you contact her with questions. You should also go to german-pinschers dawt com and read everything there. I also recommend going to the AKC website and reading what they have to say about what a German Pinscher is bred to do. Good Luck.

@chardsnake Having said that, I love everything about her so you might too. If you don't have time to be around them and give them plenty of exercise then they will make you miserable. When that happens they end up having to change homes or worse. I love the breed so much that I would rather they stay rare than people get them and not be able to care for them and appreciate them. My male's breeder even tried to discourage me from getting him because of this.
Love the breed and your style of dog ownership keep it up!!

@MrMike2102 Why, thank you very much....I'm single with no kids and lots of spare time. I used to think I enjoyed golf. I got my male about 4.5 years ago and I haven't played golf since. Apparently, I was just bored....

Considering getting one of these, as our 17 year old staffies have passed on... Or a min pin, which is better?

@CamCool10 It depends on what you want. GP's really do need plenty of exercise. A MinPin would probably get all the exercise they need at home. If you're interested in a GP you should check out german - pinscher . com
