I think the reason Caffeine got into the mix because we don't believe in partaking are or can be an addiction.

Looking at it that way anything can be an addiction to the right person,

so it's more watching your own intake and making sure you don't indulge yourself past the point where it's not healthy.

Mormons don't drink soda as a choice, weather it has caffeine or not. The original reason for not drinking soda is that Coke had Cocaine in it. Over time it has become mistaken as the caffeine probably due to new members and such.

The coffee is off limits due to our scriptures saying no hot drinks.

The reason is that some people make them way to hot and can mess up their mouths.

It's just trying to keep you safe.

@averydobbs65 so wait you kinda confuzzling me there bud....you saying that people shouldnt accept other religions? and whats wrong with not drinking soda, coffee, or liquior. actualy some mormons do (my cousin and best friend are mormon) so i had the whole coffee and liquior thing explained coffee contains caffine (i mean so does soda but the people i know arent that strict about it) and liquare is well liquior. both of which are addicting substance so they stay away from it.
