  • I followed your steps completely. When I have blemish area highlighted, and use the clone stamp, nothing happens because nothing is on the blemish layer. I am sampling nothing. I''ve used clone stamp many times on a duplicate layer, IF I am sampling from the blemish layer that is blank how can I get anything to copy?

UUggg..First of all, thanks for the question. After watching this video again I've noticed a few problems with my instructions (e.g. I mess up what value map to a soft brush vs. hard). I'm not a fan of recording myself so that is just going to be the case =]

So, the answer to your question is that I left out one important note about that particular technique. If you fast forward to the clone stamping part of my tutorial, you'll see that I have the clone stamp mode SAMPLE set to ALL Layers. What you have by default is to sample from the current layer. Switch it to ALL LAYERS and you'll be golden. Let me know how it works out.

  • @froggystylephotos Thank you for your prompt response and for posting these tutorials! They are very helpful! :-)

  • Completely agree with your comments (Tom) for the most part. This was done in the tutorial for the purposes of showing the technique.

thanks for the reminder and kind words.

  • I understand that some of your editing is for the purpose of the tutorial (and your tips are very good BTW), but I have to address the removal of the moles. NO!!! A mole is not a temporary blemish. It is part of the bride. Please beware people that if you retouch things that aren't temporary (like pimples, flakey skin, rashes, some uneven skin tone) you run the risk of insulting your client. ALWAYS consult with the client regarding retouching before you go ahead and remove permanent things.
