One of the most evocative songs i've ever heard. Every time i hear it i envision a man sitting alone in an animated forest reminiscent of something out of an early Disney film.

You're absolutely right and I'm wrong. You don't have to Irish to love Irish music or any other music for that matter.

You're right. His songs bring back family gatherings. Almost all my people have passed on and his voice brings them all home.

John McCormack could bring tears to anyone's eyes. You have to be Irish to love his voiced songs.

John McCormick was trained in opera but was able to also sing all the old Irish tunes as well and thank goodness for that. Smoking and drinking took away much of his pure voice but to me, he's still the greatest tenor to come out of Ireland. I love his music..

i wouldnt say you have to be irish, although being irish i wouldnt know how it sounds to everyone else, but i would well imagine it sounds fantastic no matter where you come from!
