  • the first string (E) in the violin, is like guitar's first string at the twelve fret E??

  • Hi quutamo87, Yes, the violin's E string is the same as the guitar E at the 12 fret. Good job figuring that out.

  • when i tuned my violin the D string snaped

  • Hi Silverbluecrest, I'm sorry to hear that! It is difficult, I know. Good luck with it.

  • Hi again Todd!

I´ve been learning to play the violin since more than four years now and, along this 8 minutes video I´ve learnt several things I ignored before about tuning. This proves you have made the right decision. There´s a lot to be learnt, especially when it comes, to such a complex subject as violin playing, so, well done! :)

    Cheers from Madrid!

  • Push 8 to start tuning.

  • What type of electronic tuner would you suggest me to get for my violin for a good price?

  • EpilepticElbow - I am only learning a couple of weeks tooo - but i read once that someone removed their pegs, filed slightly the peg holes and returned the pegs and that stopped the unwinding - maybe someone that knows if that is correct could help you more ...

  • @professorV Could you please tell me the octave tunings for the violin? (Such as e1, a4, etc. The numbers on the key tones are the octaves from the piano if you don't know. To go further in description, the numbers represent the first to last octaves of a key note on the piano. [a0-7{?)

  • Hey first time I tried to tune the E string, it snapped. I tried to ajust it from the peg. Then a guy told me I should've used the fine tuners to tune it.

I have a new string and I want to tune it now, what should I do? Shall I tune it (E string) from the peg or the fine tuner? The string is just a little bit out of tune. Let's say...a semitone or so. Is that small enough to tune from the fine tuners? Or should I do it from the peg? I'm afraid it will snap again. Thank you very much in advance!

  • I was practising the use of the left hand, going from A to B. An hour before of the exercise, I had used an electric tuner to tune my violin, but since it wasn't way off tune, I only used the micro tuners. However, as I was going from A to B, my E string just snapped! How is this possible??

  • hi prof, thanks for all the videos! just got myself a tuner and it has some frequency settings (default 440). does the frequency setting matter or is there a number for the violin tuning?

  • why do all of the videos have idiots running their mouths???? Just TUNE THE THING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the E string snapped! Plus the other half flew somewhere and I can't find it! should I get a new bridge if the string is real deep already? I'm having a hard time playing the A string.

  • I cover my violin with a thin blanket while turning the pegs, will this have any negative results? :)
