Part 1...
Quick demo of my recently acquired D*A*M 1966 pedal. I'm running it into a cranked Vintage Marshall JCM800 4010 1X12 Combo, (2204 circuit). I had the amp set for medium gain.
Using my old Fender Strat with Fralin Blues Special pickups.
I also use the Moog MF-104z Analog Delay in places for some nice slap-back.
The video starts with the 1966 bypassed, so you can get an idea of how hot I'm running the amp. Then I slam it with the 1966 in "66'" mode, with level and attack maxed.
And throughout the demo I'm using my volume control to clean things up a bit so you can hear how much ground the 66' can really cover. It can take you from OD, to Hot Boost, to Distortion, and to throaty fuzzy goodness.
Audio was recorded with a good ol' sm57, into Logic Audio via a Presonus Mic Pre and Soundcraft Mixing desk. No compression was added in mixdown... I kinda thought Youtube might take care of that for me ;)
And the camera I used was a Flip Ultra HD... not too shabby... but not awesome either. (definitely a good job I recorded the audio properly though, as the Flips' mic isn't great at capturing the essence of fuzz pedals.)
Any questions, just ask. You can catch me over the D*A*M forums pretty regularly too.
Cheers,
Xan :)
Great demo! Sounds much better than most of the short videos out there. And that fuzz + delay combo looks fantastic.
Just got myself a Super Bee, it has a thick deep and saturated tone, which is great for heavy riffs and stoner solos... But I find I cannot cut the gain much, can reduce it a tad with the guitar volume, or the knobs, but it gets muddy and dark toned really quickly. Sounds "right" just at full gain. For what I hear the 66 sounds much more controllable in gain. How us the super
