  • Is there any particular age for doing deviated nasal septum surgery?

  • @hackrider1994 Dear HACK:There is no age criteria for correcting a medically necessary deviated nasal septum. However, commonly this procedure is deferred until full maturation. Again commonly performed for females not before the ages of 13 or 14 and males after 15 years old. Severe trauma cases a surgeon may opt to correct at an earlier age.

  • i also have a deviated nose...but my mom is against the surgery because many people say the surgery is not so effective...if you have sinusitis which is almost always accompained by deviaiton it could get worse because you will have then problems with sinuses...to operate or not to operate, that is the question!

  • @ilkagx Evaulation by an experienced nasal surgeon usually helps to determine whether you are a candidate for the surgery. These surgeries are usually very successful in over 90% of all patients who undergo the procedure. Nasal septal surgery is probably over 95% effective. Sinus surgery failures are patient's who have a combination of severe polyps, asthma and aspirin sensitivity.

  • Can anyone tell me if this is an outpatient procedure?

  • @bonzoscarpetcleaning Yes . Usually this is an outpatient procedure unless underlying medical conditions ( sleep apnea, heart problems, severe asthma) require an over night stay to monitor breathing and heart problems.

  • @Spinny78 my broken dislocated bone from my nose. stupid doctors.

  • @Spinny78 8 thousand shakel's which is like saying if we are payed by dollars it may coast like 4 thousand dollares for something isn't really a plastic surgery. Today the doctor was very rude and he thought that I wouldn't stand up for him. He told me that he will not do it because thats a plastic surgert not medical. He also said that he will take some of the parts inside the noseso I can breath better which I do breath very fine but it would be better for me to breath if he did correct my

  • @Spinny78 not a reconstruction surgery for something that was messed up by life. So because of all what I have mentioned this surgery is a plastic surgery that is not coverd by insurance and I am still 20 and 11 months and still a university student so i dont really have the moeny to pay for it, even thought this is not actually a plastic surgery because I am not actually changing my appearance, I am trying to fix my nose they it was before the accident. plus the surgery in isreal coasts like

  • @Spinny78 thx for the encouragement. I have a deviated septum today I actually took and X ray and I saw that my nose bone is actually placed wrong after I had my acident. Thx to God I breath well and everything, my nose looks beautiful and its not distorted but it will be better to do thesurgery because we humans always eek to better ourselves. Unfortunately I live in a place called isreal, but I am an arab, Palestinian to be exact and this kind of surgery is considered a plastic surgery

  • @LIFEandPOWER Please fix it. I encourage it! I lived with a deviated septum for 10+ yrs without knowing it! I thought that Afrin and nost strips were the solution, boy was I wrong. I had to stop Afrin (I was apparently addicted to it, according to my ENT doc). Had to use steroids and go cold turkey for 14 days before surgery. I have never used it since.

  • @NoseMD I didn't have rhinoplasty (nose job). Trust me, I wish I would have :)

  • @Spinny78 i have the same problem that u had and i am seeing the doctor for it. Today was my first day of showing him my problem and he is going to give me an x ray for my nose. i feel very sacred thow because i don't to end up adding to the problem or even distorting my nose. my external nose image is actually very nice it. no one could really notice that my deviation, but i think that my breathing would be much better. and i also feel that the left part of my nose is usually moist.
