The NHL on TSN takes a look back to 1959, to the moment that prompted the invention of the goalie mask.
"On Nov. 1, 1959, the goaltending position in the National Hockey League was forever changed when Montreal's Jacques Plante debuted the first goalie mask in a regular season game."
Andy comes across as very childish to me...angry because Jacques celebrated a bit after the game...his poke check was aimed at the puck...no malicious intent but Andy admits to deliberatly shooting the puck at Jacques unprotected face...not very classy.... a bitter dude.

Well, we have here only the the version of Bathgate. He tries to exonerate himself by saying it was a "legitimate" response... to what Plante did to him.
Too bad we cannot ask Jacques Plante about it.

It is a funny thing the trainers who stiched these guys up were better than plastic surgeons if you look at these guys after the fact they have less noticeable scars! I am sure it almost tore his nose off. There is that famous mid season picture of Terry Sawchuck, man what a love of the game.Thank you for posting.

2:00 ... a few short weeks later Bathgate had a shot at revenge ???
Somebody should tell TSN to do a little research ... all of these events took place on a single night.
