Kalev Leetaru, Univ of Illinois, discusses the Global Twitter Heartbeat Project (featuring data in real-time, the first of its kind) at the Super Computing 2012 Conference.

The Global Twitter Heartbeat project takes a look at the national impact of Hurricane Sandy and the emotionally charged time of the 2012 U.S. election. They used an SGI UV 2000 Big Brain computer to compile data on the populations, tone, and geographic analysis and visualization of Tweets taken in real-time.
