No He wasn't a surprise, He was announced before. It was a two day fundraiser for the Rock Against Bush org, he did some spoken word and they played with NOFX, Pennywise, New Found Glory & Strung Out.

But what i was going for is that in my humble opinion many of the punks who were supposed to carry the torch fell into oblivion or juts plain sold out (which is a whole other topic). The new acts just seem to not have the persona and stick to emulating older acts. Why are jello, iggy, joy division, etc. still relevant and (most) new acts easily forgettable? Theres something definitely wrong.

@jwatson626 it also speaks volumes about how sad the state of music is, and more over, the state of punk is. People having to rely on seeing an old, fat punk instead of talkin about Rancids, Nofxs or even Penywise's singer is a true statement that bands nowadays have so little to offer. btw, Jello gets my upmost respect.
