The first dog i owned was a retired racing greyhound, he was a great dog. I even trained him to do quite a few flashy tricks (with food because there's no other way with greys unless you get them as a pup). I did demos with him at local greyhound rescue PR events showing people that, yes, you can train these dogs to do things (with the right bribery since they're so independent).
My akita/rottie on the other hand does everything for praise and pats.
