If you have "fixed" your PS3 a few times and then get a situation in which it appears you have no power, then here's what to look for first.

  • Can you please reply asap. Well im thinking of buying the ribbon cable but im not sure if it is the cable or the little plastic thing that connects to ribbon and motherboard. can you make a quick video on how its supposed be put back on and it came off easily because i got scammed when taking in my ps3 to get disc drive fixed:( guy ending up taking my ps3 and closed down shop and gave me this dusty piece of shit but it did work for at least two months.

  • @DazedEdits You will see how the ribbon goes on if you look at video six in the ps3 playlist.

  • where do u buy the ribbon ?

  • @derry1 The ribbon unlatches from both sides. You can simply pull it out, and it will come out.

  • @MrOOSTUOO I have a current flowing in my power supply, just have no lights. The ribbon seem to be fine but, I would like to replace it. How do I take the remove the ribbon without damaging the motherboard?

  • @deadlypalms have a vid on fixing it. I would attempt the fix and inspect all ribbons. If it as been taken apart before, then the chances are high you'll be able to fix it. Freezing does happen before death. I would attempt it

  • Thanks for the tip - about to take a look at a friend's PS3 that's conked out. However, his did freeze, flash the yellow light of doom before then losing ALL power completely - so now there's no lights or fan noise. Ever the optimist, i'd hope this might mean the issue was related to the PSU before it failed completely, therefore NOT requiring heating to fix but just a new PSU.

    What do you reckon?
