Recorded in 2001, Pat & Patrick Costello present the skills needed to learn frailing banjo (the same style Grandpa Jones played) in a series of lighthearted, easy to follow workshops that show you just how easy it really is to play a few tunes on the front porch.

  • Hi Pat And Patrick.I've watched so many learn the Banjo Vids on here to try and learn the Scruggs style.I was not getting anywhere. But now i've found you and your father i'm staying right here and going to give frailing a go.You have both inspired me so much.As you are such attentive teachers,I can tell by all the nice comments on here that you are the best guys to follow.

Thanks from Dave in the UK

  • where do you buy the dvd?

I like the style of teaching.

I was self teaching trying to figure out a

method and found that if I learned the

melody first, then embelish it with

pulloffs, hammer ons and slides and whatever

other bag of tricks ,I could have more fun.

Well, looks like this instructor is doing just that!

  • this man makes me so happy.

  • I'm doing the same, Bill. I've told others I feel like I'm cheating on the work I've put into Scruggs style, but I'm having a lot of fun with this clawhammering!

  • i have been trying to play scruggs style banjo since 1965 and your method of teaching frailing has opened my stubborn brain to more banjo fun. thank you, you're the greatest. Bill

  • i have een trying to go find crippy creek tas for 2 weeks

  • BRILLIANT! You are such a skilled and natural teacher and certainly an absolutely excellent musician.

I am going to buy all of your DVDs.

    Thank you for sharing..!!

  • love that cripple creek. you're right it does make me happy! can't wait to get a banjo.
