Chewie and Sicko fly the F/A-18F Super Hornet through a dynamic demonstration at the 2006 NAS Oceana Airshow on Sunday September 10, 2006. For more videos and information on DVDs, visit http://www.stevesairshow.com .
What you witnessed were stripped down test planes with thrust vectoring, such as the MiG-29 OVT. They do put on a great show though that not even the F-22 can really match.
S Hornet was not meant to be air superiority fighter. Its has easy sustainability, low maintenance, and its compact and can fit easily on a deck of a carrier. If the Navy wanted air superiority they would have contracted the f-15(seagle). So dont put this up against su and migs.
A rather infantile point argument. What has Russia's economy got to do with this? No wonder everybody else is buying from the Russians. I pray you get the opportunity to fly one of these machines for the F-15 does feel like a World War II relic compared to the way the SU 27 in general and the MiG 29 in particular feels, honestly and sincerely.
If the purpose of the S-hornet was air superiority it would have been designed different. It is smaller so you can fit more on a carrier deck. If they wanted superiority they would have navalized the f-15.
SuperHornet is not meant to be a contender with those. its a "workhorse" it was chosen for it's easy maintainability which is VERY important on a carrier. You have to be able to deploy quickly and often.
You're talking about the Super Bug right? Because the Russian jets have outstanding AoA capabilities and comparable missles such as the R-77.

It could hold it's ground against any other jet. but don't expect it to dominate. F/A-35 c will dominate.

I think this is a better explanation. Thanks for that, otherwise there is truly no basis for comparison between them.

Design flaws, like lack of high AOA maneuverability, under-powered, no stealth technology, and lack of a solid weapon's platform.
