Another cut fom the soundtrack of Glenn Miller's 2nd and final film feature "Orchestra Wives". IMO, the best version of this song - the feel & emotion of the band here are out of sight!

This is, in part, for fellow YouTube user, record collector and just a fellow who has his own special cool about him in "CrisVangel", who, prior to my post of the original Victor 78 of this cut, hadn't yet known that Glenn Miller's version was the original. ;)

  • Very nice cut. I'd have to pass on the drinks though, especially on Sunday morning. :-)

  • @althazarr LOL! I hear ya, Lloyd - just used a little Duke Ellington license in the message description - he who penned such songs as "Mood Indigo", "Take It Easy" and "Air Conditioned Jungle". ;)

  • @SwingMan1937 Wow, that's funny you mentioned Air Conditioned Jungle. I'm posting that one this week. :-)

  • @althazarr Right on! I used to have that one on V-Disc. We don't get to hear enoughlate 1940's Duke (on Columbia, I believe?).

  • This is amazing.. Thank you. :)

  • @detectmendacity You bet - this version beats all, IMO.

  • It is Johnny Best doing the trumpet solos. The RCA Victor and Fox soundtrack issues from the 50's and 60's as well as the Mercury LP and CD issues from overseas use the pre-recordings which don't include the applauses at the beginning and end. The most recent independent label CD's use the actual soundtracks probably taken from the VHS tape or Laserdisc since they were issued before the DVD was released, I believe.

  • Es interesante dar a conocer a los solistas, es decir a los vocalistas ( Ray Eberle & Pat Friday) y trompetistas (Billy May & Bobby Hackett). This is wonderful ! Thank you.

  • This has WONDERFUL memories for me. It was during the WW2 years and these lovely American films cheered us up and Glenn Miller was so good.. I love this... Thank you......

  • @SwingMan1937 Boy oh boy, it sure does!!!

  • @fromthesidelines I hear ya - thought myself it might've been Johnny Best with the 1st solo, but I wasn't 100% sure. I decided to err on the side of caution. ;)
