Project 8 Actual PSP Footage

Here's how I rate the game:

Gameplay:
There's nothing particularly spectacular about it. The animation is good but there is a lack of ragdoll physics during bails.
You can hop off the board whenever you like and you have the new Nail-The-Trick feature that zooms into your board and you use the analog stick to control the skateboard and pretty much perform the trick yourself.
The main let-downs that there are few levels and not much customisation.
An addition which I particularly liked is the interaction with npc's. You perform some awesome combos near any random pedestrian, and they will pay you in 'Stokens' (in-game money) according to how well you skated.
The core skating is fun and the Nail-The-Trick feature is a great addition, but doesn't improve the franchise in any meaningful way. 7.5/10

Graphics: Well, the game on ps2 was considered by many to be pushing the system to it's limits. In translation to psp, there are a few minor changes but there's still more or less the same great graphical detail and that's really quite an achievement. 8.9/10

Sound: Nice, varied sound effects. Good, occassionally funny voice acting.
A fairly good playlist of music.
7/10

Pros: Impressive visuals, Solid Port, Very tightly focused gameplay, fun multiplayer.
Cons: Nothing new, lack of levels (only around 10), Disappointing customisation.

Overall I would rate the game: 7.4/10

You need to fill your focus bar thing by doing lots of tricks without bailing. When you've done so, then jump or go up a ramp and flick the analog stick downwards. Then press a direction and hold it and let go when your character is standing directly on top of the board. :P
