@thejugglenaut91 ***** You are absolutely right!!! Segovia was not Tarrega's student. Miguel Llobet was Tarrega's finest pupil. Llobet was Rey de la Torres maestro. There were 2 dominant traditions of classical guitar performance in the 20th century- one line descending directly from tarrega, the other from Segovia.

My teacher,Philip Rosheger knew Jose and even wrote an Elegy for him after he passed away.

Rey de la Torre was an excellent guitarist, performer, and teacher. I took classical guitar lessons from him during 1962-63.
When performing he had a nervous habit of scratching his left inner ear with his left little finger.
His favorite activity was baseball! He loved to play baseball being from Cuba, and was a nice gentleman !

yes equal to segovia i actually like rey better he was truer to the music but what segovia did cant be denied bringing the guitar out of obscurity and greatly enhancing the repetiore

You are correct, One Of the Greatest Guitarist in LEVEL WITH Andres Segovia - He lived in Santa Clara County - He lived in San Jose in the MID 1970's and He gave concerts here locally - at West Valley Music Auditorium - A true Dedicated and Patient Guitar Teacher Mentor - He was well read and a Humble Man.
He had ACUTE ARTHRITIES in His later years and died of the COMPLICATIONS and He still was COACHING PROFESSIONAL CONCERT
ARTISTS at the TIME.
He LEFT US GREAT RECORDINGS!.

De La torre studied with Miguel Llobet, Llobet was Tárrega's Student. Andres Segovia was taught how to transcribe by Emilio Pujol and was a student of Llobet's, ( for as long as Llobet could stand him.)
