  • This implies that ALL your muscles, big and small, external and internal are strong enough, so that if engaged together, they only need to be engaged up to the sung level. If you are physically week, then sung level of muscle activation s probably way above your normal strength and tension level, and does not feel like being relaxed. But you need to achieve this muscle tone level if you want to be stable.

  • Don't do tai chi completely relaxed. That is slumping and will put your body out of alignment. This will lead to injury. You need to do it in sung state, which means using just enough muscle and tendon power to keep body in a REQUIRED position.

  • if you are beginner and you do any of these excercises to the extent that this guy is doing them you will injure yourself beyond repair

  • Thank you noklarok for sharing this. i have been trying to follow it for a couple of years i think. i love it . thank you to the instructor too. i have read the comments made and they too have been helpfull. big respect to you both, i'm trying as i only really do chi gong its a slow pace for me. oops i for got to ask about how to breathe when doing this exercise

  • Yeah I think it's the knees that take the most conditioning work.

  • @noklarok Thanks.

  • @persistente1 and raise your posture,, don't sit too low until you have 'earned' it.

you must be careful of your knees in tai chi. you can damage them.

    do not twist them.

always pivot on the heel of the foot.

ask your teacher about your alignment/ posture.

    or go see a physiotherapist.

if you rub your knees a lot and keep them warm that will help them get better.

    good luck.

  • @persistente1 : do your shoes fit? does it still hurt in bare feet? the front knee in a front stance should not go beyond the vertical line of the front toe,, some say not beyond the knuckle of the toe,, if you lean/let your knee go too forward you will definitely get pain in your knees.

you can practice standing on one leg using a table or chair as an aid, then use two fingers to lean against then one, then none,, this may help your alignment.

    don't do knee circling exercises.

    be careful!!!

  • Hello I start practicing taichi, but my knees are killing me I can not hold on them. Should I continue with my exercises? Do you think pain is going away?.
