  • Thank you so much ... have been trying to figure out for years how it was designed inside. Good never figure out as well why the command seats were sloped "downward" and literally had to look above their heads to look out the porthole windows.

  • Thats a complex model to make work. Especialy if your trying to fit it all that into the globe at the front. Awesome!

  • Oh sh$#! Dude, you are the bomb man! Awesome rendering of "Discovery". Kubrick woulda hired you in a heart beat!

  • It's like a commercial from the future -- actually, the past since this is syupposed to be a mission from nine years ago! Nice work!

  • Nice animation.

I think you've raised a good point that there are many movie and TV space ships that have interior shots that simply don't fit the exterior dimensions. Good examples being the Eagles in Space 1999 and Starwars 'Millenium Falcon'. When you compare the Discovery's centrifuge and Keir Dullea (who is around six feet tall) you realise the Discovery spherical hull should be much larger than that depicted in the movie miniature.

  • The Discovery ship, probably inspired the design of the Comet Ship in "Captain Future" Anime series.

  • The placement of the centrifuge was supposed to be exactly dead center, but the size of HAL and the hublink made it necessary to move it back and downsize it a bit to where you see it now.

  • I always thought ti was along the equator of the sphere

  • Actually, the most logical idea of where the centrifuge would have been located would be the central cut of the spherical primary hull. The dimensions and architectural scheme of the interior would not allow for the location pictured here. It's a super video otherwise. You could elaborate on this.

  • I volunteer, Where do I sign in? I want to go to Jupiter!
