  • Tom Paulin is a hopeless pseudo-intellectual.

Mark Kermode actually knows what he's talking about.

  • Please watch the original, it's a real classic of comedy.

And as Kermode so rightly said, the remake isn't subtle in any way.

  • "Oh my god"

  • I love the remake. It's one of my favorite movies. Yeah go ahead, sue me.

  • this film is crap

  • This was a date movie for me. It scuppered the date.

It could have been an interesting new take on the old film, or a decent film of its own, but it's neither. It's just...a juvenile idea of what a clever social comment might be.

But it's still smarter than Tom Paulin.

  • No, it's a shit remake of a great film that shouldn't have gone to america.

  • Dilettantes, the lot of them.

I think the critics here (in what you call 'another country') are a bit miffed that a remake was made of a classic British comedy at all. It's like sacrilege.

Mind you, a lot of of them probably haven't seen either one of them. I have seen both, the original many times. As a remake the Hanks film is appalling, but on its own it's quite good. You might want to watch the original but I suspect you would not understand its subtle humour. People from another country generally don't. Oh!

  • Its a shit film

  • This Tom Paulin is the kind of guy that you see in a Monty Python skit...unreal! On the plus side that Julie woman is rather hot and I agree with her about the film even though I thought the film was funny, but I prefer the classic 1955 version.

  • Get your rat out Julie!
