  • This is the most crazy question I have read in a long time...: "why does he have a tail?"

Good Lord.... Dogs are BORN with a tail. Unfortunately some people thought it would be nice to cut them off.

I'm so happy since a few years it's prohibit in my country (the Netherlands) and many more European countries.

  • nice, my dog, when she get on trampoline, she just runs around in a circle, slips a few times, then jumps off

  • @MsLoonyLuna - I agree absolutely, - I have a boxer ( No.2) , and I meet a lot of people with boxers, because there are several breeders in the town where I live.

ALL the boxers are docked by a concientious vet, because of the problems associated with their tails.

The boxer breed was only finalized in 1890's & there was always a problem with the windpipe & the tail.

I don't like to see the ears cropped though, - now THAT"S cosmetic cruelty.

but the docking is for the dog's own good...

  • My boxer would look odd without her tail now, Doerak is gorgeous by the way!

  • @MsLoonyLuna

I owned some. And have taken care of many many more (animal shelter). Only one time we had a temporarily problem with the tail and that was solved quickly by the vet. Imho the tail injuries aren't common enough to justify cutting them all!

  • there is a better boxer trampoline dog vid. It called The Trampoline Dog! It got 524,389 views!!!!!!!! :)

  • @ MsLoonyLuna, Yes, I know and I have heard all the stories why dogs should have cropped tails and docked ears. All stories are nonsence. I can mention you dozens of breeds that have tails like the Boxer and when happy and over enthousiastic swing their tail fiercely. We used to have a Dalmation. Boy..., if it hit your leg it really hurt. Do you know the tail and ears of a Bassethound?

Cropping and docking is done, because "people" like to see it. And I think you know this just as good as I do.

  • @redshibaman It isn't "nice" to cut them off! I would never dock a dog's ears, but for the Boxer breed of dogs, it's most certainly a preventative measure to dock their tails! If you owned a Boxer, maybe you would understand why it is necessary for a Boxer to have his tail docked. The breed swings their tail so fiercely, it could lead to serious injury later in the Boxer's life. Sure, some breeds are docked for cosmetic purposes, but a Boxer's tail is a different story.
