Tyson Food Plant is laying off workers at its Jefferson, Wisconsin Location. The sausage and pepperoni plant was badly damaged in a flood back in June. Most workers have been out of work for nearly 6 weeks and hearing the news upon the reopening of the facility one week ago. Tyson has decided not to replace some of the machinery that was severely damaged and as a result is eliminating the unnecessary staff. By general standards a company would usually give two months for such a substantial lay off but because this was caused by a natural disaster Tyson is taking the liberty of waiving that rule
I live in jefferson.. I know people who worked at that plant.. A few years ago there was a large strike.. now this.. grr
