Perhaps they were. But only in China would they be moved of their beloved homes for structures build to ease the country's self-image problem.
You know, you don't have to be build iconic yet unsustainable structures for the world to like you for two weeks. Keeping promises made during the Olympic bidding phase would be enough.

No governement is perfect.
and I don't know where you got that "people forced out of their homes" thing from. The people were replaced to another area in Beijing to build the stadium.
-
Or how much theyve killed?
Or how much people theyve forced out of their homes for stadiums that wont ever be used after the Olympics?

Listen retard.
Go to Gamesbids (dot com). Ask anyone there - a number of which have gone to numerous Olympic Games - what is their opinion of Sydney compared to Beijing.
Read the personal account of people who attended Beijing 2008 or who live there. Note how they say there was a lack of a openness, inclusively, and fun - things Sydney had in abundance.
Go to Google. Search "media viewed Sydney 2000." Click on the first result. Read.
Don't come at me with "bias media" bullshit.

fool... Don't you know how many people the Communist party has lifted out of poverty?

funny you should mention the Sydney/Athens games.. they were so boring and unmemorable I can't even think of a single one THING about them.. I can't even recall their opening ceremonies.. their stadiums.. or the so-called 'great atmosphere' you talk about.. (why.. were you there?).. OK the Beijing one was pretty much regimented.. and over organized.. but that is CHina..
but.. like it or not.. it was memorable.. the venues.. the ceremonies.. and even the highlights .. who shined in Sydney? duh..

Of course everything was flawless... when your a regime that has all the money in the world to spend without having to hear from its people. Beijing 2008 could have been somthing really special, atmosphere-wise, if the Chinese government had put more trust in its people. There were pockets of amazing energy when the Chinese were cheering for all comptetors and apprecating what was truly happening in their country for those two weeks. Others who were there will back me up here.

Things haven't changed. The torch relay was public relations nightmare for China and the IOC. Some world leaders still boycotted the OC. And the Chinese didn't live up to the promises about human rights reform hey made in 2001 to get these Games. The Games were sold out and yet there were plenty of empty seats (wth?!). The atmosphere was dead compared to what we saw in Sydney and Athens - locals didn't come out and celebrate as vividly as the Aussies or the Greeks.

Beijing Olympic Stadium may not look as good as the London 2012 Olympic Stadium, but it's known as the world's most complex olympic stadium ever.
