Our Galaxy (The Milky Way) is currently colliding with the Dwarf Sagittarius Galaxy. I believe the Planet Nibiur was originally a member of that galaxy.

A few billion years. But very few stars will be affected. It will be like 2 shotguns fired and each other. The chances the pellets will hit are low.

We will collide with Andromeda - galaxies do pass through each other causing disruption. This can be both destructive and creative. If all galaxies have supermassive black holes at their centre, these can feed, and stars can be cast outward. But also new stars are formed.
