I will not quit. Two months ago I got below the 1:29 barrier that had stood in my way for five years -- and I drove a 1:28.81 lap around the big track at Willow Springs. On January 18th, I went back and this time got my time down to a 1:28.21.

If you don't know Willow Springs, that won't mean much. But I'm proud of it as a lap time for a street-driven car that weighs 2700 pounds with me in it and has only 272 horses at the crank.

This is also the first test of a new, inexpensive two-camera setup for the car. Believe it or not, the cameras cost just $36 each and they output true 720p High Def video. I added wider-angle lenses, but my total cost was just $104 out the door (not including the memory cards). I created the picture-in-picture effect with my laptop's video editing software.

Please let me know if you think the 720p version is worth the trouble of uploading. And thanks for watching.

  • I know Big Willow, my best time there is 1:43.09 in a near stock 1973 Datsun 240Z. 1:28 is an excellent time indeed :)

The 720 resolution is better looking and the sound quality is much better also.

What camera are you using? That's a lot of camera for the money.

  • @Qwildurn It's called the 808 #16, and it's designed to look like a car key fob. I have no idea why they did that, but it's a great little camera. If you search on YouTube for "The 808 #16 Micro HD Cam" by user Techmoan, you can learn all about it.

  • Congratulations, Jack! Awesome time. Been a long time since I've seen you out at Thunderhill! (Must be because I've only been out once in the past year or so).
