For one, Fagin wasn't a magician in the novel, Dodger was Oliver's age, and they didn't know Brown or whatever his name is. By the way, anyone know what position Mr Bumble held in the church? They never refer to him by any title, and yet he obviously holds some position of importance, as he's wearing some kind of uniform.
