  • Ummm... what happens if I'm wearing glasses? Does the airbag shove it right in my face? Can it injure my eyes seriously?

  • @dckalia It could likely injure your eyes. I would imagine that it would just push your glasses hard against your face causing bruising. Good question.

  • Correct.

It is amazing how people have a misconception of the air bag and how it works.

People don't understand that the air bag is literally a contained explosion of nitrogen gas to generate the pressures necessary to immediately inflate the bag in time for it to be of any use in a crash.

That explosion will generate quite a bit of concussive force that can cause serious injuries that can easily break bones and cause trauma to internal organs.

  • @Watcher3223 You're exactly right. There is nothing soft about this experience.

  • Next make a PSA about shorter or older drivers driving with there face 5 inches from the wheel!!!!!!

  • So true. Same goes for people who operate e.g. a laptop on the passenger seat.

  • Never understood why they call them airbags as they don't fill with air but with nitrogen generated by an explosive. But, I suppose, calling them explosive bags would not make them too popular.

  • @chathamshawn then it's a good idea not to buy a new car then. It's in all new cars nowdays. I've been ending up with an airbag in my face and dude they do save you from injury to your'e face and chest area.

  • Great tip, people rarely think about that. Thanks.

  • Hope i never see a airbag
