Sometimes I sit at the piano and find a chord progression that means something to me, but I don't have the poetry lined up to really make a song. So I sing phrases that seem to fit. I especially liked this progression because it had a solemn choral quality, and it begged for something to be sung along before I abandoned the recording. It's hard to explain exactly what I mean by the random phrases, but it's sort of like glimpsing present moments as if they were long ago, looking at the broken beautiful world as if it's behind, but speaking into that past-present with a solemn hope.
