Not entirely true. We are only talking about the late 70's. 78 to be exact as Funk music rolled in. 78 was totally underground. Small number of peeps knew about it.Took off early 80's as more groups entered the realm of battle and pioneering the moves. Its not till the first movie made by the rich Jews (hate to say it) that the rest of America picked up on it. Bottom line, 80's era can appreciate this more because the more breakn crews that form, the more the public get caught up in the network.
