"Driven By Vision" Episode 206

These two good men named Charlie have attracted communities of loving friends and supporters as they have set about creating their own work. To quote one friend Good Art Comes from Good Humanity.
Part A Charles Stagg Vidor, Texas
Over in Texas, Charlie Stagg waves his mortar wand as he cements hundreds of discarded pop and beer cans to shape a new country home and studio, to replace a legendary studio recently razed by a mysterious fire. A trained artist who spent time in the New York artworld, he returned to look after his mother and never left. Never moved to town. Never built a regular house but this creation has grown around him and draws friends and fans from miles around to help him with his living expression of harmony.
Part B Charlie Lucas the Tin Man Selma, Alabama
Charlie Lucass mother taught him to sew. His father taught him metal work. No one taught him to read. So he interprets the world in his own way, calling himself the Tin Man and creating intricate emotional structures of metal to tell the stories of his world. A handsome middle-aged black man, his best friend is his 90-year-old white neighbour Kathryn Tucker Wyndham Alabamas most renowned oral storyteller. These two story tellers garden, dumpster-dive and otherwise amuse themselves in the history-heavy town of Selma, Alabama.
