Frankfurt Underground U4 Train at Dornbusch

Three trains of the type U4 arrive at Dornbusch station in Frankfurt am Main. This is the first overground station after leaving the tunnel. The Underground then continues to run at street level for some time like a tram.

Drei zusammengekuppelte Züge der Baureihe U4 fahren in die Station Dornbusch in Frankfurt am Main ein. Dies ist die erste oberirdische Station nach dem Tunnel durch die Innenstadt zum Südbahnhof. Anschließend fährt die U-Bahn noch etwas auf der Straße, wie eine Straßenbahn weiter.

Oh man I used to live 5 minutes away from this train station on the Am Dornbusch Strasse and I used to take this bahn till my school at sachsenhausen. Oh man how much i miss that time. That was 8 years ago and Even at that time these Trains looked so modern to me. I really loved a ride on this train. are these trains still used Today?

It is a train of the type U4 (as described in the sidebar). At that time it must have been in service on line U2. The title is a bit unprecise, I admit.

Those U4 trains still look really modern despite being 14 years old.

In Britain, there needs to be more systems like Frankfurt's! The closest thing there is, is the Tyne & Wear Metro. The carriages are coming up to 30 years old. It needs flashy trains like the U4 series!

Inside the current state of the trains is about equal to the older trains. I've often seen displays inside that are not working. And there are also older trains which are due to be replaced by new U5 trains in the next few years.

There are a lot of old trains in the UK, I konw. But the Victoria Line in London will get new 2009 stocks next year and I think the 1996 stock in London is also a nice train.

By the way: The U2 series has been so successfull that it even has been sold to other cities.

Just hearing the sound of the train brings back memories of my trip to Frankfurt. I use to get on at Dornbusch and ride it all over Frankfurt. Thanks for the vid. It made my day!
