At one time we used to recover up to 15 stolen burnt cars a day in our area [UK] we had ex military 4 tonne cargo trucks with loader cranes and winches getting stuck in fields and woods was an everyday occurance, maybe he was recovering a motor?

again it begs the queation why was he there. im sure the vehicle he was after was much lighter than the tow truck. why would he think he could get thru. i have been towing eleven yrs i wouldnt go back there.
