Ustad Hashim was a student of Ustad Sarahang, he learned music (raagas, scales, gamaaks, saptaks, etc) from his older cousin.
Ustad Hashim learned tabla from his father, then later Miyan Kader Baksh, but Ustad Hashim had an amazing talent at picking up instruments and learning the philosophy behind really quickly, making him who he is today.
Musicians drink alcohol, so think of the possibilities in this recording. I have heard this from many sources, that were present in the this mehfil...
I agree with you. Although Ustad Hashem was cousin of Ustad Sarahang but Ustad Hashem never got along with Ustad. Their rivalry is famous and hardly played with each other.
The tabla is ruining the song. He may be a reputable tabla player, but his accompaniment in this song disturbs all the intricate material that Mohammad Hussain is including in his singing.
@classicpower7 no, they were GURU-BROTHERS... means that they all came from one school under one ustad.
one is from Afghanistan, one from Pakistan, and one from India.
the 3 best tabla players, from 3 different countries, and his 3 best students.
