Whitacre, you have done it again.

There is not a single Whitacre piece that I don't love. Shivers every time.

Can someone please give me the track listing for Eric's album Light and Gold? I would just like to know which of his songs are on the CD. Thanks :)

This song's lyrics are just perfect to describe the state of things in a book I'm writing. Thank you Whitacre, and thank you Char, the girl who told me about this song.

Oh how I miss singing in a big choir. There is NOTHING like the sound and the way it moves through your body as you sing with others. The way these voices blend in with perfection is beyond amazement. Beautifully done.

1:45 only good old eric could get away with a D major-minor :)

@geniusboy98 it actually a very common practice in modern choral music

Dissonance in choral music is not something you come across every day, but Whitacre is sure to make it worthwhile...

so contemplative and cosmic, i just feel the almighty peace in all those harmonies...
Hmm... The note progressions and harmonies at 4:42 - 5:00... sounds a lot like the note progression in "What If" from his opera: "I yearn to soar, so there has to be much more"

@blindmagi
They're the same progression. Whitacre quotes himself quite a bit. Presumably in the spirit of Vaughan Williams; who did the same. Incidentally; the structure of this song is a direct quote from the 3rd mvt of Vaughan Williams' 5th symphony.

If you mean the ones the sopranos have in the world premiere recording; the sopranos themselves added that in.
