@thierrybaer Yeah, I realized that shortly after posting. I guess you can tell that I have way too many 78s in my collection...I can't keep track of who's who and who sang what!

@alternatehistories - -the other one was not Elisabeth but Ernestine Schumann-Heink, a wonderul contralto btw.

Doug, The exquisite performance speaks for itself. I love your videos! Fascinating photos and they're so ... gentle, like the song:)

There were two Elisabeth Schumann's who recorded 78's in the early 20th Century and I always got them confused. The singer here is the younger Elisabeth Schumann...the other was much older and sometimes went by "Schumann-Heink". I also think she was a contralto - which should make it harder to confuse the two! I'm glad you posted this here...it helped me to figure out that my recordings were different people!

Words cannot express her gift,,were lucky.

And thank you, Doug, for making this delightful artist's work available on the internet. I heard her once in recital at the Royal Albert Hall, and got a ravishing smile afterwards at the stage door. The voice was even lovelier than recordings suggest.

Shows off the vocie and the charm as well as anything she recorded. - John Austin, Australia
