double length formatted episodes screened by ITV network in 1990. The colour prints used were rather poor contrast, but interesting to note the way they merged 2 episodes into one and removed the recap's and cliff hanger endings for this format......
Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackhams treasure were screened during the Summer of 1990 on networked ITV childrens morning TV, all double length episodes except the final part of Red Rackhams treasure which was the 5 min original format.
Note the previous screenings of both these stories on any UK TV channel was 1983/4 by BBC1, and before that, 1976, again by BBC1. 1983/4 screenings were all the single 5 min episodes, but the 1976 screenings contained two double length episodes, so that the 17 part series series could fit into a 3 week slot over the Summer holiday period, ie 15 episodes instead of 17.
Before that, both Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackhams treasure were screened in 1974 during the Summer holidays on BBC1, in the single episode format only.
Hello, Goldenfleece! What a discovery! I'm Gayle, the daughter of Dallas ("Dal") McKennon- who was the voice of a number of these English-dubbed Tintin episodes, and including "Captain Haddock" in this one!!! Gee- do you think this will make him a "star" posthumously? (Chuckle...) I tried posting a small video response...
