I am not sure if what I did was right or not. We waited until there is a gap. The van was further away when we moved. As we did it, the van saw us overtaking the parked cars - he moved toward us faster (I assume on purpose). Then the van moved closer to the middle of the road during our overtaking. As we got to the end of overtaking the parked cars and moving back to our lane, the van was almost THAT CLOSE of hitting my car, only to move away (you can see him turning the steering wheel if viewing in full screen) to avoid hitting my car. I also had to move out of the way very quickly too as shown in the video.

What was the point of that? Did I do anything wrong? Is it a case of "Mine is bigger than you, get out of my way"? Or just generally being stupid white van man attitude?

  • First I was like: that's a really good idea that dash cam but then I was like £249.95 inc VAT :/

  • @Testiculatorz If you look in my description box, there's a discount code which drops the price even further down

While it may be a little bit expensive, the small, compact bullet camera is what I want and it does the job perfectly, unlike other cameras (GoPro) which will not fit very well under the rear view mirror. At the end of the day, it's all down to your requirements/needs really. For me, this meets my needs perfectly. You may want to check out my other reviews of cameras on my website

  • Sorry, but I'm with the van driver, although I don't agree with any "aggressive" conduct on his part (if he even was aggressive, he may have simply not observed you overtaking). Highway Code #163 "give way to oncoming vehicles before passing parked vehicles or other obstructions on your side of the road".

You shouldn't have attempted the overtake on the parked cars unless you could do it without inconveniencing the van driver. Your overtake should be done independently of the Fiesta's.

  • @Graebob Perhaps. But as the description states "As we did it, the van saw us overtaking the parked cars - he moved toward us faster (I assume on purpose)" - but yes can understand what you mean. Thank you for your comment.

  • The van driver looks like he was trying to prove a point that you were at fault for overtaking obstructions on your side of the road,. You wouldn't follow a car thro a red light, so why follow one overtaking parked cars when you've got oncoming traffic.

  • @snow24372 As the video states, please read the description - it answers your question. Thanks for your comment.

  • I agree with snow 24372,you followed the ford without making sure yourself that the coast was clear, using it as a shield in effect.I've done it and im sure most watching will have done it.I like to think i would have pulled into the space between the parked cars when i saw the headlights but maybe thats wishfull thinking on my part.

  • Not your fault. You're passing an obstruction yes, but there would have been plenty of room to safely pass the parked cars and pull back to your side of the road if the van driver hadn't sped up. It's probable that the van driver saw you passing and decided to drive at you to make a point as if to say "Get back on your side of the road" but that's a stupid mentality and there was just no need for it. At 0:21 the van has easily two or three feet between him and the curb to use he chose not to.

  • The van driver could have slowed down for sure.If he can see you, then surely he could reduce his speed for a few seconds.

  • @wolf9walker Yes, it's legit to park there - they have parking permit. Agree what you've said about the van driver.
