Pretty sure the ref was suppose to step in from the first yell.... . any yell is a sign of pain aka tapping. That's what I was told at least, could be different here.

He says it very clearly. "AH STOP!! STOP!!! TAP DUDE!!!!" Way before it was extended. There was plenty of time to save his arm. If I can hear him grunting through a mouthguard on shitty speakers from a video recorded in a loud gym, why didn't the ref??

Useless ref and next time if you don't know what to do and are held for even a couple of seconds, TAP, ffs! He didn't even try for an armbar defense or slam, what was he waiting for? Also, shows that with only a little knowledge and entering a competition, you're taking a much bigger risk than you may think.
