The original Little Fugitive is an iconic, almost silent tribute to childhood that is said to have single-handedly launched the French New Wave of the late 50's and early 60's. And I see obvious tribute paid to the very early Hal Roach silent "Our Gang" films of the early 1920's sans much of the comedy. Natural child actors, who performed from intuition rather than from a script were cast. It's a beautiful,
honest, timeless film that certainly did not need any sort of cheesy remake.
